LATEST UPDATES!

We have made some great progress towards our goal of a special and unique festival!

The biggest news is that we now have our registration form on line (See Registration) for the convenience of our members. All you have to do is print the page, ffill it out in its entirety, and send along with check to Tom Nestor, IAJS Treasurer, 1709 Billinshurst Court, Orlando, FLA 32825. All checks should be made payable to: International Al Jolson Society.

Please fill in the appropriate number of reservations for each category. We recommend the Full First Class Passage (most cost-effective) at $175 per person for members. $195 for non-members (one year membership included!) However, we do have an a la carte price list.

$75 per person for each dinner/show combo (NOTE- dinner reservations required)

$40 per person for show only (Also, available as a walk-up)

$20 per person for a one day pass (daytime only)

And don't forget about the optional trip to gorgeous Catalina Island! (See Avalon for details) $60 per person (reservations required)

We strongly urge attendees to register as early as possible! It is advantageous to both you and the committee, as we will have a cut-off date for early bird registrations. The cut-off will be April 1st.Any late registrations that come in postmarked after April 1st will be cost $195 per person. So get 'em in early! Additionally, there is priority seating for early birds. We would even encourage you to register by the end of this year. We have already received Sponsorship donations and registrations! We believe this will be a well attended festival!

Good Advice- Just as a travel tip, those who are interested in going to Avalon will have to arrive at the Queen by Wednesday, May 14th, as the boat will be in the morning on Thursday, May 16th. (The festival room rate will be in effect Tuesday to Tuesday for early arrivals) You don't want to miss this event! We have invited Harry Langdon, Jr. to join us as our guest for the 70th anniversary screening of Hallelujah, I'm a Bum. Also, I'm working on a surprise piece of film that was cut from the  Jolson   Story but has been located!

The next bit of exciting news is the confirmation of some of our celebrity guests! Besides our regulars like Sybil Jason and Rudy Wissler, Tommy Cook has accepted, and Miss Terry Moore has indicated an interest in attending a dinner as well. Miss Carol Bruce telephoned me recently and has graciously agreed to make a daytime appearance on Saturday, May 17th! We are still waiting to hear from others. I received a call from representatives of entertainer Michael Feinstein- he appreciated my letter of invitation and may very well attend if his tour schedule allows!! As always, all guests appearances are subject to change and availability.

Volunteers have acccepted their assignments for registration, doormen, spotlight, and other duties! My friend Paul Bunnell has agreed to be videographer of the two dinner shows... Another friend and a Jolsonair, filmmaker Jonathan Fahn, is looking into making a documentary about the Jolson Society and may film parts of the festival!

I have had several opportunities lately to attend functions, dinners, and the LA County Fair in Pomona with flyers in hand for publicity!

I am now lining up appearances on radio and on Long Beach Cable Charter Communications to promote the festival...

I am pleased to announce that professional public relations manager (and Arizona Rep) Marv Freeman has signed on to be director of publicity and media relations. Marv has already secured color guards for the opening night ceremonies and for Hillside...
